Tracking Forgiveness: A photographic journey of The Railway Man
‘Tracking Forgiveness’ features production shots and behind the scenes photos taken by stills photographer Jaap Buitendijk during the filming of ‘The Railway Man’ which took place in Berwick-upon-Tweed, Edinburgh, Queensland and Thailand in 2012.
The film tells the story of late Berwick resident Eric Lomax who was one of thousands of Allied prisoners of war forced to work on the construction of the construction of the notorious Death Railway in Thailand during World War Two.
In 1995, Lomax wrote and published ‘The Railway Man’ a powerful memoir placing his wartime experience in the context of his whole life. It went on to win two literary prizes and is now a major feature film starring Colin Firth and Nicole Kidman.
The Railway Man is showing at The Maltings Theatre & Cinema during the first week of January.
