In this new body of work Samantha Cary moves between painting, mono prints, etchings and woodcuts to build complex, layered and often darkly humorous images.

Tackling subjects including jealousy, career isolation, dating and heartbreak through a process of meticulous making and a prism of cultural references ranging from music videos, television and films to fairytales and art history, her stories unwind and unravel.

Born in London and based in Berwick-upon-Tweed, Samantha holds a BA in Fine Art from Sunderland University and an MFA in Fine Art from the University of Newcastle. Solo exhibitions include with Emma Hill at The Eagle Gallery, London, The Campden Gallery, Chipping Campden and her work has been included in group shows including with Flowers Gallery, London, The RA Summer Exhibition and The London Original Print Fair. Her work is in public collections including with NHS Scotland and The Imperial College Healthcare Trust, London.

Thanks to Arts Council England and Create Berwick for supporting the development of a number of works in the exhibition.
