Berwick Literary Festival and The Maltings present Polly Toynbee in conversation with journalist Gerry Foley.

Polly Toynbee is a journalist, author and broadcaster. She is also a member of a remarkable family, many of whom have had a profound effect upon our society over many decades.

In her searingly honest portrait, An Uneasy Inheritance: My Family and Other Radicals, the Guardian columnist examines their legacy, which includes her writer and communist father, Philip and such famous names as Nancy Mitford and philosopher Bertrand Russell.

Polly Toynbee in conversation also features a Q&A and post-show book signing.

"This is an investigation of the meaning of privilege in Britain, of whether the brutal inequalities of what George Orwell called “the most class-ridden country under the sun” could ever be transcended."
