Join our spectacular Parade
In an event that’s not to be missed, you are invited to gather in the Parade Ground of the Berwick Barracks to witness a stirring and magical light installation created for and with the community of Berwick-upon-Tweed by the celebrated artist Matthew Rosier.
Featuring many hundreds of local people this is a parade like no other ever seen in Berwick and over three spectacular evenings the walls of the historic Barracks will be transformed into a parade of giants moving and dancing in a joyful procession.
Inspired by the strong tradition of parades and procession in the town, this immersive installation marks the first commission for Berwick Shines, The Living Barracks Cultural Engagement programme.
With live music from local musicians, artwork, and food and drink stalls on site, this is a unique celebration of our town’s past, present and future – an event you will want to share with family, friends and visitors. So, come and join us as we light up the dark winter nights and become part of Berwick Parade.
This event will go ahead whatever the weather, so book your tickets soon to receive updates.

About Berwick Parade
The Living Barracks redevelopment will restore and renew the historic site that has played a pivotal role in the town’s social and cultural life for centuries. Berwick Parade will mark the moment just before our iconic Barracks becomes surrounded with scaffolding for much-needed conservation.
Matthew Rosier has been supported by Berwick Shines, The Living Barracks Cultural Engagement team, and has been working closely with English Heritage, Berwick Record Office and The King’s Own Scottish Borderers, honouring and learning from the history of this unique place.
