As many of us discovered during covid, immersion in nature can help to soothe the universal stress that currently engulfs our world.

Here’s a charming and gentle adventure that focuses, without commentary, on an ancient oak tree through the seasons and the wildlife that live, play, eat, nest and hide amongst it and the immediate surroundings.

Filmed in Sologne, France over a dedicated year and a half, the superb camera work and unendingly patient observations of the tree’s inhabitants make for a charming, amusing and occasionally gripping watch, offering a welcome escape into the natural world, without recourse to computerised graphics. A film which joyously involves us through stunning visual delights.
