In busy cities across the world, life can be relentlessly demanding, yet lonely. It’s amidst bustling Mumbai that we enter the lives of three women who work in a local hospital, two of whom share a flat in the urban outskirts.

Prabha’s husband has left to work in Germany. She doesn’t know where she stands with him, nor whether the (arranged) marriage remains intact; Shiaz is in a relationship with a Muslim man which, as a Hindu woman, she must keep under wraps; Parvaty, the eldest of the three, is a strong-minded widow facing eviction from her shanty home.

Each of these women must navigate their personal lives alongside the daily demands of their jobs. Later, a trip to a coastal village, Parvaty’s’ original home, offers the women the space to breathe, to formulate their thoughts and dreams and the possibility to reconfigure their respective realities.
