Take a look at some of our online resources here
Workshop 1: Photography Framing Taster Workshop – for 6 years and over
Photographer Jo Coates leads a simple photography framing taster workshop, aimed at children 6 years and over. The workshop will help the viewer think about choosing a subject and basic framing and composition for taking photographs or drawings. Download the Student Activity Book here and use it alongside watching Jo’s video which explains the activity.
This online workshop was created to accompany the Portrait of a Town photography exhibition which was held at The Granary Gallery, Berwick-upon-Tweed during 2021, and was commissioned by The Maltings and Northumberland Archives. The workshop was supported by Northumberland Arts Development.
Workshop 2: Photographic Storytelling – for 6 years and over
Photographer Jo Coates leads you through our next photography workshop, aimed at children 6 to 13 years old.
The workshop will help the viewer think about how to take a set of photographs that tell a story. Read the presentation here and watch the video which shows Jo visiting places in Berwick-upon-Tweed, discussing what to consider when taking good photographs.
Download the Tips Handout here, that can be used by teachers to support younger pupils or can be used by older pupils themselves; it offers tips on what to consider when taking a good photograph.
