We host termly meetings that are open to all school teachers and colleagues interested in working with cultural organisations that offer excellent creative learning opportunities for schools.
The sessions aim to build partnerships between schools, artists, cultural organisations and opportunities and are supported by Northumberland County Council.
The meetings also offer opportunities for teachers to gain informal CPD. Previous sessions in the North Cluster have included visiting artists giving tours of their exhibitions and sharing techniques that can be used in the classroom, a Using iPads with your Pupils creative photography session explored identity and an opera and ballet inspired workshop delivered by the Manager of Learning and Participation from the Royal Opera House introduced the National Nutcracker Dance Programme to teachers present.
Feedback from teachers attending the Using iPads with your Pupils session included:
“Fantastic CPD so inspiring – loads of ideas for the classroom – pupils working together in pairs/groups, ideas for pupils talking/starting conversations for the first time.”
“I just wanted to say what a fantastic course yesterday organised by yourself and led by Alice Myers. So many inspirational ideas to take back to the classroom - I thoroughly enjoyed this practical ipad course and can’t wait to put things into practice now with students.”
