Lowry Day celebrations

11 September 2024

Local traders and people of the town came together on Friday, 6 September for a special celebratory event organised by Bridge Street’s ROJO Antiques and Art Gallery to recreate the 1938 painting by L.S. Lowry at the north end of Berwick Old Bridge looking towards West Street.

James Lowther, Head of Visual Arts for Maltings (Berwick) Trust, said: “It’s such a great idea to try and recreate one of his most iconic works of Berwick. Thanks to everyone involved in this celebration of the town’s connection with LS Lowry and the Lowry and the Sea exhibition that runs until 13 October at the Granary Gallery.”

For more details and to book your tickets to visit the exhibition, please visit Lowry and the Sea here on our website or call The Maltings Box Office on 01289 330 999.

Lowry and the Sea has been made possible with a grant from the Weston Loan Programme with Art Fund and The National Lottery Heritage Fund and is supported by Community Foundation Tyne & Wear and Northumberland.

Thanks too to our local business supporters – Berwick Garden Centre, Greaves West & Ayre, Laurence J Pearson – Chartered Accounts, Rojo Antiques and The Walls Bed & Breakfast for supporting the exhibition.
